Dalton Aims for Play-Off Spot in Final Showdown

Dalton's Season Finale Against Orrell St James

As the North West Men's League Premier Division approaches its conclusion, Dalton Rugby League Club is gearing up for a crucial match against the unbeaten leaders, Orrell St James. This encounter not only marks the end of the season for Dalton but also holds the key to their aspirations of securing a play-off position.

Head coach Paul Armstrong expressed his determination, stating, “It’s been a really tough year going into the Premier Division, but a win would see us finish fourth and in a play-off position.” This highlights the significance of the upcoming match, as a victory could elevate Dalton to a more competitive standing.

Injuries and Team Adjustments

However, the road to a potential play-off spot is fraught with challenges. Dalton is currently facing a significant injury crisis, with several key players sidelined. The team will be without Joe Crarey, Ross Bird, Roly Seward, Cavan Armstrong, Owen Bridle, Rob Cockayne, and the Atkinson brothers, Sam and Ben, all of whom are unable to participate due to injuries. Additionally, Harry Gordon's participation remains uncertain, being rated as a 50-50 chance to play.

Despite these setbacks, there is some good news for Dalton, as Dan Knott and Isaac Maclean return to the squad, potentially bolstering their chances against the formidable Orrell side.

Roose Pioneers' Challenge in Division Two

Meanwhile, in Division Two, Roose Pioneers are also vying for a play-off position as they head to Runcorn Highfield. Currently sitting fourth, a victory for the Pioneers would propel them to third place and set up a semi-final rematch against Highfield the following weekend. Coach Lee Edmondson shared his insights, stating, “If we are to win, we will go third and face another trip to Highfield next weekend in the semi-finals.” However, if they fall short, their play-off fate will depend on other results.

Notably, Roose Pioneers will be without Jack Wilkinson and Josh Cohen, but they welcome back Josh Tranter and the experienced Dan Sharp, adding depth to their lineup.

Barrow Island's Season Conclusion

In the Conference, Barrow Island will conclude their season with a match against Dewsbury Celtic. This match will serve as a final opportunity for Barrow Island to showcase their skills and end on a high note.
